Influences of mixing methods on the microstructure and rheological behavior of cement paste

Abstract Relationships between mixing methods and both rheological properties and microstructure of cement pastes are described. In particular, a newly observed peak stress, determined at low constant shear rate, is correlated with various mixing methods and the size of inhomogeneities or agglomerates within cement pastes. The results of this research impact on the importance of laboratory mixing techniques when applying results to field concrete.
