Investigation of cross-saturation and deep bar effects of induction motors by augmented d-q modeling method

Based on the space-vector theory, the paper combines the models for cross-saturation effects and for deep bar effects to form an augmented d-q transient model for induction machines. The effects of cross-saturation between d- and q-axis under main flux saturation are discussed. In order to consider deep bar effects, a rotor circuit model that calculates the rotor deep bar parameters using a genetic optimization algorithm is presented. The new rotor model is integrated into the traditional d-q model to form the augmented d-q transient model. The effects of cross-saturation and deep bar on the performance of induction motors are investigated. The model is verified by computer simulation and experiment results.
