Simulation of Microelectronic Neural Circuits and Systems

In order to find suitable microelectronic representations of neural systems that provide the necessary functionality at the lowest possible costs, the behaviour of the microelectronic system must be simulated. In the analysis of microelectronic systems of even low complexity, however, it is often the case that the behaviour of the system cannot be described explicitly at all, or only at a huge cost, only approximately, only for special cases, or in a combination of some of these constraints. On the other hand, in many cases at least a numerical solution of the system of equations is possible. We use the word “simulation” to mean the concept and the solution of the numerical task, some steps of which are done semi-automatically by a software program called “simulator”. The solution is designated as “simulation result”.
