Penetrating laceration of the pericardium and myocardium and myocardial rupture following closed-chest cardiac massage.

. Two cases of pericardial laceration and penetrating myocardial injury and one case of pericardial laceration and myocardial rupture in vital tissue are submitted. These complications do not seem to have been reported previously following closed-chest cardiac massage. The genesis of the injuries is discussed.
