Automatic synthesis of optimum filters with arbitrary constraints and noises: a new method

Abstract We present a new general method for calculating the optimum filter for high resolution nuclear spectroscopy with assigned time domain constraints (finite duration, flat top, peaking time, zero area, etc.), and in presence of any kind of uncorrelated, stationary, additional noises. The method is full developed. It can be easily translated into computer programs and it can be used as a tool for optimising a digital signal processing spectroscopy set-up in its digital filter section. The method is applied to a typical example.
