Ultra-robust optical routing by digitally encoded SCM label

Ultra robust optical label switch routing for digitally encoded subcarrier multiplexing (SCM) label was demonstrated. Error free performance for SCM label attached to corrupted 10 Gbit/s payload signals with bit-error-ratio of grater than 10/sup -1/ was confirmed. We also confirmed sure optical routing operation under such severely degraded optical transport conditions.
