Human factors in the design of carrels for learning: State of the art

SummaryThis article has summarized many of the human factors aspects involved in the design of a learning environment or carrel. The design principles are reasonably well authenticated. However, other factors—especially those involving the psychology of space—may provide significant design parameters. These factors are presently not adequately researched or documented. Human factors data thus provide the best available guidelines. Given the limited state of the art in learning environment design an iterative process is recommended.
