Energy Efficient Election Probability and Cluster Head Selection for Enhancement of SEP-E in Wireless Sensor Networks

Wireless sensor networks emerges as new technology to monitor physical world. In this paper, energy efficient protocol ESEP-E is proposed for heterogeneous clustered wireless sensor networks which is enhancement of SEP-E[1], Basically in proposed protocol the optimal number of cluster heads are elected in every round which are required number of cluster heads that is we need more number of cluster head in starting of network operation and less cluster head nodes as network evolves which is discussed in section II(A), to extend lifetime as verified by simulation results in section III, while number of cluster heads are fixed in base protocol SEP-E, that is in this proposed protocol the optimal number of clusters head nodes with nodes remaining energy is studied as compared to SEP-E[1]. Then there is comparative analysis of proposed protocol is done with HET-LEACH, SEP-E, with different parameters of heterogeneity. The detailed study concludes that there is percentage improvement of 29% and 36% in FND (first node dies), HNA (half of node alive) in case of ESEP-E as compared to SEP-E [1]. Proposed Protocol ESEP-E is enhancement of SEP-E protocol proposed by A. FEMI [1] in his Master's thesis work in 2010.
