Computerized Automatic Start-Up Control for Boiling Water Reactor Nuclear Power Plants

Abstract This paper presents a description of the world's first commercial Boiling Water Reactor (BWR) nuclear power plant automation system. Basic concept, scope of automation, system configuration, and the automation process for the plant start-up operation are described in detail. Start-up operation is also presented. This system is characterized by a highly developed man-machlne interface which includes an operation guidance function utilizing CRT's. This automation system is very powerful in realizing safe and efficient power plant operation.
