The development of a SCADA system for a automated component-handling platform

As explained by Vermaak [1], mechatronics make up a mechanism or automation ""cell"" such as the conveyor system that was built in this project. Mechatronics refers to the integration of a number of actuator systems, computer soft- and hardware, embedded controllers, electronics and sensors. This project involves the development of a Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) system for a conveyor belt using a PLC and the research and implementation of products and devices that will form part of an automated system remotely monitoring and controlling the manufacturing processes of different types of products via the internet.
