Testing Separate Families of Hypotheses: An Information Criterion

SUMMARY An information criterion is developed for the test of a composite null hypothesis against a composite separate alternative. The intuitive and interpretative appeal of the criterion is emphasized and comparisons with the Cox test invoked.
