Summarizes past efforts to model fire spotting from wildland fires. Explains how Albini's spotting model for winddriven surfaces was simplified with no loss in accuracy and the resulting model implemented in the BEHAVE fire prediction and fire modeling computer system and on the HP-71B calculator.
