Use of quikscat ku-band scatterometer data for retrieval of seasonal snow characteristics in Finland

The feasibility of using scatterometer data from the spaceborne QuikScat instrument for retrieval of snow characteristics in Finland has been studied. QuikScat data for the winters of 1999-2000 through 2005-2006 have been used along with in situ data for 21 test sites.
