Core Self-Evaluations

In this article we review core self-evaluations (CSE), which refers to deep-seated evaluations that people hold of themselves. CSE is a higher order personality construct comprised of fundamental traits that have an evaluation focus and are broad in scope, such as self-esteem and generalized self-efficacy. People with high CSE have a heightened sensitivity to positive information coupled with a reduced sensitivity to negative information. CSE is an important dispositional predictor of satisfaction with one's job and life, and appraisals of one's job characteristics and social support. CSE also contributes to effective job performance behaviors at work.
