PERCEPTION-BRAKING RESPONSE TIME OF UNALERTED DRIVERS AT SIGNALIZED INTERSECTIONS

A study was recently conducted in Singapore that unobtrusively observed the behavior of unalerted drivers responding to a change of the signal indication at road intersections. In particular, driver perception-braking response time (PBRT) values were determined empirically in order to establish a statistical distribution, while the influences of selected factors on PBRT were examined. In this paper, the data collection and extraction work is briefly described first. The results from this study are then reported and compared with findings from similar studies.
