A High Isolated Dual-frequency Dual-polarized Ku-band Microstrip Array Antenna

A new dual-frequency dual-polarized antenna element and array design is presented for Ku-band applications. The array is a multi-layer structure, where the element adopts stacked rectangular patches to realize dual wideband performance. In order to obtain the antenna with high polarization isolation and low cross-polarization,the feed networks for different polarizations are located on different layers together with mirror feed technology. Moreover, the simulated and measured results of the 4×4-element array antenna show that the relative impedance bandwidth(VSWR2) of the horizontal polarization and the vertical polarization ports are 14.56% and 10.2% respectively. The isolation of the dual-polarized ports is higher than 33.3 dB.The maximum gains are 18.6 dBi and 18.7 dBi at 12.5 GHz-band and 14.25 GHz-band,respectively.
