PREVALÊNCIA E FATORES ASSOCIADOS À DOENÇA PERIODONTAL EM PUÉRPERAS ATENDIDAS EM MATERNIDADE PÚBLICA EM LONDRINA, PARANÁ

Objetivo: Estimar a prevalencia e identificar fatores associados a doenca periodontal em puerpera. Metodo: Foram entrevistadas e examinadas 472 puerperas em maternidade publica do municipio de Londrina, Parana no periodo de junho a julho de 2009. Para o exame bucal e diagnostico da doenca periodontal utilizou-se o Indice Periodontal Comunitario, que foi realizado por tres cirugioes-dentistas, previamente treinados e calibrados (k inter =0,87). Resultados: A prevalencia da doenca periodontal foi de 41,1%. Entre a puerperas com o agravo, 8,2% apresentaram sangramento gengival, 49,0% calculo e 42,8% bolsa periodontal (4-5mm) como o pior resultado. O modelo final da Regressao de Poisson apontou associacao (p<0,05) da doenca periodontal entre as puerperas com 20 anos de idade ou mais, com baixa escolaridade (? 4 anos de estudo), sangramento gengival (auto-referido) anterior a gestacao e habito de fumar ha mais de 10 anos. Conclusao: Os resultados reforcam a necessidade da melhoria no acesso ao atendimento odontologico pelo Sistema Unico de Saude, por meio de acoes que promovam, previnam e recuperem a saude bucal individual e coletiva, incluindo a atencao especializada de periodontia.
