Control of Major Insect Pests of Cabbage by New Insecticides

In field.trials conducted during 1975 and 1976 thirteen, insecticides against diamond-back moth (Plutella xylolsella Linn.) and seventeen insecticides against cabbage leaf webber (Crocidolomia binotalis Zell.) and mustard aphid (Lipaphis erysimi Kalt.) were evaluated with biweekly sprays. Quinalphos, chlorpyriphos, dioxathion (0.5 kg ai/ha), followed by monocrotophos (0.3 kg ai/ha), phosalone, phenthoate and methomyl (0.5 kg ai/ha), effectively controlled the diamond-back moth.. Against leaf webber, monocrotophos (0.3 kg ai/ha), quinalphos, phenthoae, chlorpyriphos, chlorfenvinphos, triehlorphon, acephate metharqidophps (0.5 kg ai/ha), fenitrothion (0.75 kg ai/ha), endosulfan (0.7 kg ai/ha) were found effective. Successful control of mustard aphid was achieved with quinalphos, methamidophos, chlorpyriphos (0.5 kg ai/ha), monocrotophos (0.3 kg ai/ha) and endosulfan (0.7 kg ai/ha).
