Abstract This essay reviews Wheeler’s (2012) book, essentially functioning as a handbook on servant leadership for academic leaders within higher education. Wheeler presents 10 principles of servant leadership that are important for deans, directors, and department chairs to consider when supervising faculty and staff, managing organizational dynamics, or setting a vision for the future. Wheeler’s insights, based on years of research on servant leadership, include practical ways to foster positive development of self, others, and organizations.
