Fast Decoupled Power Flow Solution with Automatic Adjustment of Generator Remote Voltage Control

This paper presents a simple method to include the generator remote voltage control in the B" matrix. In this method these generator buses are not treated as PV bus and they will keep the real power P at constant at a specified value. The voltages of these generator buses will be floating as function of its own reactive power. The voltages of the remote buses are controlled to a constant value. Therefore, remote buses are not included in the B" matrix, nor in the iteration process. This is the major enhancement to the original fast decoupled load flow algorithm. The adjustment is performed directly in the solution process and no error-feedback is needed. The new method reduces the number of iterations and makes the convergence faster and also the solution is more stable and has less oscillation in the iteration process. When a remote bus voltage is controlled from a number of remote generator buses, the required reactive power is shared between multiple generators
