Aerodynamic Forces acting in Ski Jumping

Figure 1: A schematic illustration of the sensor unit and Approaches for the aerodynamics forces in ski jumping have been conducted by the wind tunnel test or numerical simulation method [1, 2]. However, its entire flight dynamics from the take-off to the landing is difficult to observe, because of its wide range of motion. In addition, the transient posture change of the jumper-ski system at the right after take-off could not be performed in the wind tunnel test. The authors propose a new approach for the entire flight phase monitoring by using inertia sensors and estimation of the aerodynamic forces acting in ski jump.
