"Health Care Financing and Delivery in the Decade Ahead" is a prosaic title that could be, and no doubt has been, used many times to introduce a monograph in defense of some specific program or legislative proposal in the health and medical care fields. Yet the article bearing this title, by Walter McNerney (p 1154), is not in the least prosaic. It comes closer to being an incisive collection of aphorisms, clearly expressed and well ordered as applied to a complicated and sometimes confusing subject. Any proponent of change (or lack of change) should find it of interest to see how his ideas measure up.
