Summary The frequency of lameness in general, bowed tendon and fractures, occurring in races is shown to have a direct relationship to environmental temperature and humidity and a less clear relationship with rainfall. It is proposed that the relationship is one of fatigue and that fatigue may be the responsible factor for over 50% of racing lameness.
