Observations on plasma magnesium levels in patients with uremic neuropathy under treatment by periodic hemodialysis

SUMMARYObservations have been made on the plasma magnesium concentration in patients with chronic renal failure under treatment by periodic hemodialysis. The concentration is riot significantly different in patients with clinical neuropathy as compared with those without neuropathy or with a control series. In a group of patients dialyzed with magnesium-free fluid over a four-month period, no alteration in the neurological state or in nerve conduction was detected.
