Modeling & simulation based approach for optimizing seal press workstation in a manufacturing system

This paper proposes a modeling and simulation (M&S) based approach for designing, simulating and optimizing the ergonomics solutions and the work methods of a workstation belonging to a manufacturing system operating in the field of flexible hydraulic hoses production. The research has been focalized on seal press workstation comparing the actual configuration with new workplace scenarios. In our approach, Modeling & Simulation is used as a decision making tool for comparing different alternatives and carrying out what-if analysis as well. Such approach allows to evaluate workplaces performance, identifying optimal ergonomics solutions and operating procedures for reducing process times.
