An innovative algorithm for the velocity estimation both during dynamics and at steady state

The paper deals with the problem of velocity estimation of rotating machines with the use of an incremental encoder. Working conditions both at steady state or in dynamic operations have been studied. An innovative algorithm for the measurement of velocity has been proposed and compared with classical algorithms. Implementations of the estimation method proposed by authors have been made by means of numerical simulations either at steady state or in dynamic operations. The results achieved in terms of measure precision and dynamic response are very satisfactory, as shown in the paper.
