A strip fed wideband rectangular dielectric resonator antenna using perforations

In this paper, a strip fed wideband rectangular dielectric resonator antenna using perforations has been proposed. The empirical formula is presented to find the effective dielectric constant after perforation, which comes out to be 23% lower than the original dielectric constant. This improves Bandwidth (BW) and reduces overall weight of the antenna. Both the modes i.e. TE111 and TE131 are preserved in the proposed modified antenna structure. It can be used in the various wireless applications in the frequency range of 3.4-5.5 GHz. The BW (|S11| <; -10 dB) offered is 50% with the peak gain of 8.2 dBi at 4.6 GHz.
