Parallel Computing Fuel Assembly Loading Pattern Optimization by the Simulated Annealing Method

The recently proposed optimization-layer-by-layer networks-based neutronics evaluation model has served as an efficient tool to test the performance of the simulated annealing (SA) algorithm for fuel assembly (FA) loading pattern (LP) optimization in pressurized water reactors (PWRs), because it is very fast and acceptably accurate. We herein examine the effectiveness of parallel computing SA optimization schemes in solving the optimum FA LP search problem for the equilibrium cycle core of Younggwang Unit 3 nuclear power plant (YGN-3) PWR.
