Propagation of Motor‐Side‐Originated Conducted Emission Toward the Power Grid

The most significant part of conducted emission in an ASD is initially generated at the output side of frequency converter. Majority of standard regulations establish emission limits primarily for the grid side of an ASD. Therefore, understanding of conducted emission transfer from the output side to the power grid is fundamental issue for decreasing final emission of the ASD into the power grid. In this chapter the importance of parameters of DC bus link, as one of the most essential for conducted emission propagation, internal component of ASD, is discussed. Analysis high frequency CM parasitic currents transfer phenomena based on simplified circuit models of most commonly applied ASDs is presented. The influence of difficult to avoid parasitic capacitances of internal components of FCs are underlined with correlation to intensionally implemented capacitors and DC chokes as extra components used for limitation of conducted emission. Results of the theoretical analysis as well as experimental verification are presented.
