Arrangements of lines and pseudolines without adjacent triangles

Abstract We disprove a conjecture of B. Grunbaum by constructing an arrangement A 12 of 12 (straight) lines in the projective plane such that in the cell complex associated with A 12 no two triangles have a common vertex. Furthermore we describe recursive constructions for pseudoline arrangements without adjacent triangles.
