Channel characterization for indoor diffuse optical wireless access

Performance of a indoor optical wireless link is mainly degraded by temporal dispersions resulting from multipath transmission. Up to now,the efficient and rigorous modeling of corresponding indoor channel including sophisticated reflection has not been proposed. A novel modeling scheme, named independent reflection interaction characterization,is presented which realizes tremendous saving in calculation and gives more insight on the channel characteristics. The new approach is based on consolidating the dependence of receiver parameters, transmitter parameters, and indoor environment into independent components. Changing parameters of the link requires recalculation of corresponding components. The new scheme is utilized to obtain an accurate profile of received power and delay spread throughout a room.
