Strategies to improve accessibility for learners with color vision deficiency

Accessibility is an important topic that is usually considered in the context of web pages, and more generally, user interfaces. The goal of this paper is to heighten the awareness of the accessibility of pedagogical materials used by educators for learners with color vision deficiency (CVD), which is more commonly known as color blindness. Specifically, this paper illustrates the application of guidelines and tools to improve the CVD accessibility of the pedagogical materials in the case study. Ideally, educators will apply the underlying principles to course notes, presentations, exercises, and publications, to improve the accessibility of their own pedagogical materials.
