Joint angle of arrival and angle-spread estimation of multiple users using an antenna array and a modified MUSIC algorithm

This paper is concerned with an improved method of estimating the angle of arrival of the uplink signal transmitted from a mobile radio handset using an antenna array at the base-station when the handset is surrounded by scatterers. This new method is based on a modified MUSIC algorithm. It improves the accuracy of estimating the angle of arrival in the scattering environment and it estimates the angle-spread of the signals impinging on an array of antennas simultaneously.
