Stochastic Processes and Population Growth

Kendall’s paper reviews a number of contributions to the stochastic theory of population. Besides the sections reproduced here and in chapter 7, they include birth, death and immigration processes; processes that are time-dependent or periodic; maximum likelihood estimation of the birth rate in pure birth processes; comments on the stochastic treatment of logistic growth processes; and stochastic fluctuations in the age distribution.
