Survey of theoretical bounds and practical constructions for frequency hopping sequences

Frequency hopping spread spectrum systems, with its anti-jamming and multiple access properties, have become popular in military radio communication, mobile communication, modern radar, and sonar echolocation systems. Families of frequency hopping sequences are used to specify which frequency will be used for transmission at any given time, their properties play important roles in FHMA systems. The research results on theoretical bounds and practical constructions for families of frequency hopping sequences are surveyed in this paper.
