USE OF A PRIORI KNOWLEDGE IN IMAGE RECONSTRUCTION.

A fast-image-restoration technique from limited sampled data is described. This technique requires the use of a priori knowledge and the convolution properties of a suitably chosen transformation (e.g., Fourier transformation) in Hilbert space. This technique can be used to improve the compression ratio in transform image-compression coding and to improve the reconstructed image from limited-angle projections in x-ray tomography.
