The piezoresistance of constantan strain gauges under shock loading conditions

The piezoresistive response of constantan strain gauges to shock loading has been investigated by bonding them between tiles of a number of materials. The gauged samples have been shock loaded under conditions of one-dimensional strain by the technique of plate impact. Strain gauges have also been placed in mild steel samples to investigate the effect of the phase transition on their response. Results indicate that the strain gauges are affected by this structural phenomenon.
