Effect of Temperature On the Fragmentation-pattern of Hydrocarbons Under Electronic Impact

The study shows the change induced by the temperature of sampling on the fragmentation pattern of n-butane and isobutane when a molecular beam sampling technique is used coupled with a mass spectrometric analysis. A decrease of the parent peak signal of both butane isomers is observed when the sampling temperature increases. Furthermore, sampling temperature effects on the parent peak of some hydrocarbons from C1 up to C4 have also been investigated.
