Minimizing Effects ofReflected Shocks inBallistic Ranges

Shockwaves originating from hypersonic projectiles flownin ballistic rangesandsubsequently reflected fromtherangewallshave beenfoundtoproduce undesirable effects on themeasurements of projectile wakes.Thispaper reportson themechanisms through whichreflected shockwaves perturb thewake, thedesign, and installation of full-scale fiberglas wedgeshock attenuation treatments, thedesign ofequipment forminimumshockreflection, and the results of measurementsof the performance of the treatment.
