PRODUCTION OF ADENOVIRUS ANTISERUMS IN HORSES.

Viruses. The history of the prototype vi¬ ruses used and the titer of the immunizing anti¬ gens determined by complement fixation test with human immune serums (4) are sum¬ marized in table 1. Preparation of immunizing and serologic an¬ tigens. Thirty-two ounce prescription bottles containing KB tissue culture monolayers were inoculated with adenovirus strains 1 through 18 to provide sufficient volumes for immuniza¬ tion and serologic testing. The growth medium was mixture 199 containing 10 percent calf serum. The maintenance medium was pre¬ pared with mixture 199, 25 percent tryptose
