Detection Method of Arc Fault in Series With Wavelet Entropy

As power electronics technology is becoming increasingly widely used up,the characteristic of the normal operation current in some electric devices is similar to that of the arcing fault current in them.When arcing fault in series occurs in electric devices or circuits,it becomes more difficult to detect it exactly.In this paper,wavelet entropy concept was introduced on the basis of fast wavelet transform with multiresolution analysis and threshold value with Birge-Massart strategy which is based on non-parametric adaptive estimation theory and a method based on wavelet entropy to reflect the power distribution of the arcing fault current.The transient signal with low energy of the arcing fault current can be effectively extracted and hence it can be used to provide the basis for detecting the fault arc.
