Maximizing SNR using tunable passive repeater: Deterministic control method

This paper demonstrates the deterministic control method of tunable passive repeater, which comprises multiple antennas with variable binary phase shifter. When the transmitting and receiving antennas are completely isolated, the passive repeater is used to link them. For such passive repeater, the proposed method can be used and offers sub-optimal but quite fast control of the phase shifters. The phase control pattern is deterministically calculated by eigenmode analysis of the MIMO channel. The numerical analysis based on the raytracing method is performed to verify the validity of the method, and it is found that the proposed method yields almost identical result to other iterative optimization method.
