A Study on Development of Improvement Guidelines of Smart Accessibility for the Disabled

In current knowledge and information society, digital divide is a big concern for all. That is, the disabled have some troubles to enjoy their daily life. Recently, numerous ICT and smart devices are available for the disabled as well as the non-disabled. For the disabled, improving smart accessibility is very important to live in smart environment. The purpose of this paper is to present some practical guidelines for improving smart accessibility for the disabled. The improvement guidelines are developed based on the existing mobile accessibility guidelines and modifying them for better adaptability for the disabled. Our principles are as follows: avoidance of large image, contrast between background and input window color, avoidance of colored chart and graph, avoidance of tabular format, avoidance of blue or violet light use, provision of scanning contents, provision of alternatives for sound information, provision of speech recognition service, provision of sensory perception service, and provision of emotional information service, respectively.
