CFD Keynote Talk: A Perspective on the Future of CFD and Analysis

In this presentation, a context that defines and addresses the needs of advanced algorithms, analytics, and simulation for the industry in a forward-looking sense will be presented. As such, community of researchers in Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) is significantly committed to High Performance Computing (HPC) to secure more in-depth understanding of some of the world’s challenging phenomena. In academia, that spans across many sub-disciplines. But, abundance of problems / issues / design ideas of next generation products is now, perhaps for the first-time meeting abundance of data from the real world. At the same time, cross-discipline smart algorithms are leading to disruptive possibilities of gaining insight faster than traditional (HPC-) CFD approaches. Given that life cycle value of any expensive industrial equipment is typically 5X+, data is driving significant insight for design, performance and life optimization. CFD is catching up. In many forms, it is extending its reach to value, with speed, ease and capacity. A perspective of that landscape referring to different industry segments and how they are defining future of CFD and analysis at large.
