Comparison of tests of bridged and unbridged purlins with a non-linear analysis model

Abstract A series of tests on simply-supported channel and Z-section purlins with screw-fastened sheeting has been performed in a vacuum test rig. The purpose of the tests was to provide accurate non-linear response data for screw-fastened purlins under wind uplift loading. The lateral deflections and stresses determined in these tests are compared with those calculated by a non-linear elastic computer analysis. The purlin failure loads and failure modes are also compared.
