Improved Design Analysis of Photovoltaic Modules and Arrays Under Varying Conditions

Solar Photovoltaic array is non-linear power source and under varying environmental conditions it is time consuming and extravagant to obtain operating characteristics. In order to overcome these restrictions an improved model of solar module/array has been proposed, this paper presents a step-by-step method for the simulation of SPV panels/arrays in MATLAB/Simulink. The governing curves of SPV array are also investigated for vast range of environmental conditions, substantial parameters and array configurations. The proposed method gives an exact decisive and easy to tune model of SPV array. Moreover, it provides an improved analysis of SPV array for various substantial parameters (series, parallel resistance, diode factor etc.) and environmental conditions (irradiance, temperature and partial shading)aspects.
