Three-Phase Grid-tied Photovoltaic System with an Adaptive Current Control Scheme in Active Power Filter

This paper presents Normalized Least Mean Fourth (NLMF) based an adaptive reference current control technique in grid linked photovoltaic (PV) system for harmonic mitigation in the presence of utility-grid at the distribution terminals. The maximum power point scheme is utilized for maximizing the PV power by using an incremental conductance technique. The overall systemincorporates with PV plant, utility-grid, voltage source converter (VSC),and different types of linear & nonlinear loads. The VSC is interfaced with PVsystemthrough the common DC link busfor delivering the maximum PV power into utility-grid. An adaptive fuzzy tuned PID voltage controller is utilized to keep the DC bus voltage at a reference value. The proposed current controller is utilized for calculating the three-phase reference currents for harmonic mitigation in the presence of utility-grid. The overall system is validated on MATLAB/SIMULINK software platform under various transient conditions like steady-state, load removed and dynamic load conditions. The outcomes of the presented an adaptive current controller is found good and the currents of the utility-grid system are in the IEEE-519 standard limits.
