Case Studies in Whole Language

This unique collection of six detailed case studies introduces preservice and inservice teachers to the concept of whole language. The cases reflect classrooms at three developmental levels - early childhood, primary and intermediate. Part 1 prefaces case studies with a discussion of whole language and the major issues in a whole language curriculum, including assessing growth and development. This book translates whole language theory into practical advice on how to plan, deliver, manage, and sustain whole language instruction in classrooms. In-depth actual classroom case studies demonstrate how whole language works, in contrast to the usual analysis of why it works offered in other texts.
