The maximum entropy method in NMR

Abstract The use of the maximum entropy method (MEM) for the reconstruction of NMR spectra and MR images is discussed. The algorithm used is described and the necessity of magnitude reconstructions is explained. The signal to noise of MEM spectra is shown to be comparable to that obtained with a matched filter, without the line broadening associated with apodization. The use of the MEM for resolution enhancement in two-dimensional spectra is proposed. Problems with quantitative measurements from MEM spectra are also discussed.
