Optimal Reactive Power Dispatch Using SunFlower Algorithm

Optimal reactive power dispatch (ORPD) is one of the complicated problems in the power system operation since it optimizes a chosen objective while all power system constraints must be satisfied. Recently, many algorithms have been developed to solve the ORPD problem. This paper is applied a Sun Flower optimization (SFO) algorithm to solve ORPD problem with objective function of power loss minimization and improvement of voltage profile. The proposed method is tested on IEEE 30 bus system. The obtained simulation results from the suggested method are compared to PSO, GA, FA and GSA approaches. From the result comparisons in different cases shows that the proposed SFO method can obtain a better result than other optimization approaches. Therefore, the suggested SFO is also an effective approach for dealing with the ORPD problem.
